As a Special Tactics Officer (STO), being in charge of the most highly trained combat forces in the Air National Guard is just what you'll be doing. You will specialize in controlling combat search and rescue/personnel recovery, battlefield trauma care, fire support air assets for special operations, and tactical weather observations and forecasting. You may not be a Pararescueman or Combat Controller, but you will lead them as your training and expertise centers around how to conduct, manage, and coordinate these special operations missions. You will be in charge of both conventional and joint special operations missions needed within Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) and Special Operations Command (SOCOM) for the Air National Guard.
