Our primary mission at MacDill Air Force Base is Combat Communications, where we are responsible for deploying, operating and maintaining strategic emergency communications anywhere in the world in both peacetime and combat environments.
The 290th Joint Communications Support Squadron provides the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff direct, globally deployable enroute and early entry communications support to the regional combatant commands, to the United States Special Operations Command, to Services, Defense, other government agencies and to the state of Florida. The unit also is able to deploy modular, scalable support to large Joint and Combined War-fighting Command and Control (C2) Headquarters nodes.
