Public Health Officer

As an Air National Guard Public Health Officer, you're part of a unique team of trained health professionals — professionals working and training part time, getting ready to assist the Armed Forces in time of need. Performing annual training a few weeks a year or on a more prolonged basis if the need arises, you'll play a vital role in protecting the health of the Air Guard community. By applying preventive techniques to reduce and control the incidence of communicable diseases and occupational illnesses, both in the United States and overseas, Public Health Officers protect the Air Guard’s workforce from minor and major illnesses that not only affect Airmen and their families, but the Air Guard’s overall capability as well. In this role, you’ll promote public health principles through a variety of methods, including the monitoring of disease trends, food safety practices, and sanitation levels in public and food service facilities.
