Take your nursing career to new heights in the Air National Guard. As an Air National Guard Flight Nurse, you're part of a unique team of trained health professionals — professionals working and training part time, getting ready to assist the Armed Forces in time of need. Performing annual training a few weeks a year or on a more prolonged basis if the need arises, you’ll adapt the skills and knowledge you’ve gained in your civilian career to the battlefield environment, specifically aiding in the transportation of critically sick or wounded service members. You'll be responsible for planning and providing comprehensive nursing care for all types of patients during air medical evacuations and airlift flights, and coordinate with and make recommendations to staff agencies concerning air medical evacuation plans. You’ll also brief medical personnel at the receiving medical facility on continuing nursing care and requirements.
