Sometimes the Air Guard needs expert clinicians with advanced academic degrees in selected nursing specialties to manage more complex medical situations. As an Air National Guard Privileged Advanced Practice Nurse, you're part of a unique team of trained health professionals — professionals working and training part time, getting ready to assist the Armed Forces in time of need. Performing annual training a few weeks a year or on a more prolonged basis if the need arises, you’ll use critical judgment to provide direct patient care. This will include providing comprehensive health assessments and differential diagnoses, as well as planning and prescribing treatments in the management of acute and chronic illness. You'll also handle health promotion and preventive care within your specialized area of practice.
