The 174th Attack Wing primarily performs the Remotely Piloted Aircraft mission. This involves a variety of operations, including close air support, air interdiction, intelligence collection and quick strike capabilities with minimal danger to military personnel. Additional missions include the Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) mission, as well as Air Operations and planning.

174th Attack Wing
The mission of the 174th Attack Wing, at Hancock Field Air National Guard Base in Syracuse, New York, is to provide Airmen and weapon systems for engaging in global air, space, and cyberspace operations, as well as supporting homeland defense, joint operations, and aid civil authorities at the direction of the Governor. Formerly an F-16 unit, the 174th ATKW now operates MQ-9 Reaper unmanned combat aircraft. The 174th ATKW has been awarded a number of Air Force Outstanding Unit awards.
