Our Channel Islands location focuses on Air Mobility, a mission that delivers global air transportation of equipment and supplies during times of war and for peace-time training exercises. This includes providing safe, comfortable and reliable transportation of military personnel or dignitaries anywhere in the world. Additional missions include Airborne Firefighting, Band, Medical Evacuation, and Weather.
The 146th Airlift Wing’s mission is to provide global military airlift capability to state and federal agencies. Flying the C-130J Super Hercules aircraft, the 146th has provided humanitarian relief in the aftermath of disasters. The C-130 can operate from rough, dirt strips and is the prime transport for air dropping troops and equipment. It performs diverse roles, including airlift support, medical missions, weather reconnaissance, aerial spray missions, firefighting duties and more.
The 562nd Band operates out of Channel Islands Air Guard Station.Located in Oxnard, California, the mission of the 562nd Band includes the Band mission.
