In Atlantic City, our primary mission is the Fighter mission, which involves air-to-air and air-to-ground operations designed to support ground forces and to gain control of enemy airspace. Additional missions include Air Support Operations, Tactical Air Control Party (TACP) and Explosive Ordnance Disposal.
The 177th Fighter Wing is responsible for protecting America's skies and responding to foreign threats. Known as the "Jersey Devils," the Wing has served a number of missions both at home and abroad, encompassing the missions of air sovereignty, combat/irregular air patrols, strategic air defense, defensive counter-air and air-to-ground attack. The 177th FW is equipped with the F-16C Fighting Falcon, a compact, multi-role fighter aircraft, flown by highly trained and skilled pilots.
