In Coraopolis, our primary mission is providing In-flight Refueling to all US Armed Forces and allied nations' aircraft extending their flying range with the capability of transporting cargo, personnel and medevac operations. Additional missions include Weather and Combat Weather.
The primary mission of the 171st Air Refueling Wing is to provide in-flight refueling to Department of Defense and NATO aircraft. In doing so, we provide resources for global engagement, meet national objectives, and assist local and state authorities at the direction of the governor. The 171st also supports the Homeland Defense mission, as well astwo Geographically Separated Units, the 258th Air Traffic Control Squadron and the 146th Weather Flight, a Special Operations Command unit.
The 146th Weather Flight operates out of Pittsburgh Air National Guard Base. Located in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania, the mission of the 146th Weather Flight includes the Combat Weather mission.
