The 106th Rescue Wing’s airmen are a team of diverse and adaptable war fighters that deploy globally, to support U.S. and Allied Forces as well as State and Federal authorities by providing worldwide combat search and rescue, personnel recovery, and expeditionary combat support. The HC-130 Hercules Cargo plane and HH-60 Pavehawk helicopter allows the 106th RQW to support global air transportation, mid-air refueling operations and homeland defense during both peace and wartime operations.
The mission of the 106 Rescue Wing at Westhampton Beach, NY is Combat Search and Rescue. The specialized unit that carriers out these missions are the elite Pararescue Jumpers who are able to go anywhere in the world in a moments notice. They're as versatile as the tools they use, to include the HH-60 Pavehawk Helicopter and HC-130 Hercules Cargo Plane. The advantage for having versatile and advanced aircraft is mid-air refueling, which broadens rescue capabilities and ultimately saves lives.
