In Spokane, our primary mission is providing In-flight Refueling to all US Armed Forces and allied nations' aircraft extending their flying range with the capability of transporting cargo, personnel and medevac operations. Additional missions include Combat Communications, Intelligence and Homeland Defense.
The 141st Air Refueling Wing is composed of over 1,000 citizen-Airmen, with a rich heritage of military aviation. The KC-135 Stratotanker provides the core aerial refueling capability for the U.S. Air Force, and has excelled in this role for more than 50 years. This unique asset enhances the Air Force's capability to accomplish its primary missions of Global Reach and Global Power. The KC-135 is also capable of transporting litter and ambulatory patients during medical evacuations.
The 242nd Combat Communications Squadron operates out of Fairchild Air Force Base. Located in Spokane, Washington, the mission of the 242nd Combat Communications Squadron includes the Refueling mission and the Homeland Defense mission.
