123rd Airlift Wing
The 123rd Airlift Wing has a proud history and an unmatched record of sustained outstanding performance. The Kentucky Air National Guard's 123rd Fighter Group and 165th Fighter Squadron was created on May 24, 1946 out of the U.S. Army Air Corps units. Upon assignment of aircraft, the unit's aircrews rapidly attained a high level of combat readiness, and just two years later, the Wing earned its first Spaatz Trophy, an award given each year to the premier Air Guard flying unit.
123rd Special Tatics Squadron
The 123rd Special Tactics Squadron operates out of Louisville Air National Guard Base. Located in Louisville, Kentucky, the mission of the 123rd Special Tactics Squadron includes the Special Operations Aircraft mission, the Pararescue mission and the Combat Weather Mission.
